YLSBC has adapted its programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and reorienting post-pandemic

Food Security Program

COMMUNITY MEAL PLAN (SCHOOLS AND LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES):

The YLSBC community, along with our sister organization Steps Together Foundation (STF), are continuing to donate food supplies to low-income families/students belonging to local School Districts, Community Centers, and Indigenous Communities. From June 2021 to June 2022, we delivered emergency food to around 44 organizations and community centers all over BC (Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Okanagan, and Northern BC); helping around 13,200 people with food security so far. This round we served these communities with protein, fresh produce and healthy food items. We appreciate Good Food Access Funds to bestow us with a generous grants totalling $100,000 which allowed us to support these communities.

Please have look at the geographical locations of all the Communities/Cities we have collaborated with.

Community Needs Program

Digital Connectivity:

We are continuing to provide refurbished computers and low cost internet connection to low income families and students across BC.

We have once again partnered with B.C. Technology Services located in Burnaby, BC to provide refurbished computers to needy communities.

We are also thankful to WJS Canada, Maple Ridge for their donation of used laptops. YLSBC refurbished those before donating to low-income families in schools, and new

We are proud to mention over 1000, computers have been placed with families helping their children to pursue education.

We appeal businesses to continue to donate computers to our organizations while upgrading their technology. Your support to this program is highly appreciated.

We Are Thankful To Our Partners

Vancity Credit Union, in Maple Ridge, BC has so very kindly and generously provided us with another $10,000 grant for supporting Indigenous youth to pursue trades program at Mission BC thus preparing them for gainful employment.

As Rising Youth’s Impact Partner, our youth completed thirty six projects worth Cad 46000, by providing necessary items to the needy families. These are youth led projects and they made the difference in many communities.

Please have a look at some of the projects our youth completed this year.

If the above work is inspiring enough to support YLSBC’s endeavours, any donations will be most welcome.
